Good morning everyone-
I guess I'm trying to get peoples opinions on what they think is the best small speaker?
Railmaster speakers I think are excellent- but for smaller models, such as hood units, finding a small speaker that provides is loud and can get in without much modification to the model is difficult.
Does anyone have any other speakers that they like?
Thanks Matt

iPhone speakers hands down. They are available for a dollar a piece on ebay with free shipping and you can cut the housing down to just include the speaker end itself.

I'm finding the cell phone speakers give better response than my normal go-to 16mm X 35mm speaker ! Simply amazing the sound that comes out of those little things. I keep having to pull the shell off my engine to prove that's all it is.
Mark.

Not the greatest sound quality (camera issues) but here is a direct comparison between two locomotives with the same decoder that I made. The only difference is the speaker.
The bass on the iphone speakers is stunning and you won't find any better.

You're just using a single one of those then? What's the resistance? In other words, a picture might be helpful The video is great!

I don't have a picture of one installed in an engine. The resistance is the same as the resistance of any decoder (8 ohms I think??)
I put two in the HR616 but had to take one out as it was too loud.

Quick question- I just got the cell phone speakers in- which end is the speaker? Also, where did you cut the base and attach the wires? Thanks matt

The speaker is in the one end, on the short side between the two metal contacts and the end. You can cut right next to the contacts on the long side and be fine. I bought one of them thanks to this thread and it's already installed in my C430.

I used a different seller that was slightly cheaper, it could have been the difference. I've already ordered a few more but no sign of those yet.
