Hi
I thought I'd share a project I did a while ago which I'm going to repeat. It's a DSB (Danish State Railways) class My, commonly called "Nohabs" after the maker Nydquist & Holm AB of Sweden.
They're essentially a cut down F9 riding on three-axles trucks and with a cab at each end. The Danish ones were delivered in two batches between 1954 and 1965 and originally held down mainline freight and passenger assignments.
By the early 1990's the class was being used more in freight service and DSB started a rebuild program for the better examples, others were sold to other operators in Denmark, Sweden and Germany. The rebuild included new exhaust silencers, new electrical wiring in conduits at roof level and riding platforms on each end.
My first model was based on a Roco model that I got cheaply on eBay. It cheap because it was a fictional livery advertising "Sound Track" and someone had taken the sound chip and speaker out of it.
The first shot is the only in progress shot that I have after my old hard drive crashed. You can see the new conduit along the roof edge and the new silencer that I made up out of a cut down Athearn boxcar roofwalk and plastic strip.

The second shot is the finished article and shows the end platforms which are etched Nickel-Silver by Freja Modeltog in Denmark.

Which brings me to the upcoming project, I've had a Heljan model of the same type of engine hanging around for years, it was the first Danish loco that I bought form a swapmeet for £13 (about $20!). As you can imagine it was pretty rough, handrails fitted with impact adhesive and the flanges on the centre wheelsets had been roughly ground off. it still ran nicely so I put wire handrails on, touched up the paint and left at that.

Now that i have a layout it's set in the 90's so the old maroon paint scheme isn't really appropriate so I'm going to reprise the rebuild, although this time I'm going to have to re-wheel it too.
It may take a while, but I'll try to post updates here.
