Well, here is a coulda been but never happened scheme a friend requested. I always liked the Kodachrome shouldn't paint so fast scheme. I used ATSF red from Floquil and reefer yeller to complete the puppy. The unit is an Atlas humperdill. Decals came from Microscale. Getting that warbonnet curve right was surely a challenge.....

Its not so much what folks ideas are about, actual locomotives were painted in the "Kodachrome" with either "SP" or "SF" lettering and even at least one was painted with both to show what the final scheme would be like.

Jerry, I agree that someone wanting to accurately model the prototype should use the prototype paint scheme. What I'm saying is that "us dreamers" may have other ideas of what scheme the actual railroad applied. In other words, "they didn't ask me what paint scheme to use!"
