Hi all,
I'm contemplating starting a project using an Atlas RS32 (I haven't bought it yet). As far as I'm aware it has only been available as a 'Trainman' series model, and as such has very basic detailing (but that's why it's fun to use and detail).
One big 'let down' is the rather flat fuel tank with the half casted air cylinder molded on. In reality, the fuel tank has a recess on it on both sides, where this cylinder is mounted in. Is anyone aware of a fuel tank detail part that can be used to replace the stock Atlas with?
Many thanks, Koos

I'm not aware of any other tanks available as detail parts. I will mention, I think behind that flat tank is solid metal, so you will have some machining to do if you want to recess the air tanks.

The Atlas RS32 frame is born of their RS3 chassis. The earlier RS11s used the incorrect length RS3 frame for years, so to save money Atlas just made a 'compromise' fuel tank to slide over the RS3 bulge. The RS32 chassis is just a lengthened RS3 chassis...a big let down IMHO. There is no solution but to mill the width of the tank down and make your own tank from styrene.

How about an Atlas RSD12 fuel tank, or could you modify a Proto 2000 RS11 New Haven fuel tank to fit.

Would be easy to do different tanks if Rapido made their parts available from the RS-11 they just released - but I have been told all parts are for Warranty Repairs...
I am disappointed in this frim Rapido - as I would have thought that making some extras of parts that would be useful to Alco modelers would have been a natural thought...
