CPLX 387169
Intermountain cylindrical hopper as decorated. I lightly sanded the script lettering to give a worn/faded look and removed the CP from the reporting marks. Added CPLX with dry transfers and then a dry brushing to create the rust effect. Photographed on a group show layout at the annual Belleville Model Train Show, Dec 2014.

I saw one just like this at the port of Montreal a few weeks back. It was very close to your weathering.

bicentennial, ~carmine - Thanks. Jeff - it is interesting that a few examples of the script lettering are still kicking around, the CP Rail Multimark having superseded it in the late 60s.

Nice "PAC Man"! Looks like it's from my era of modeling (late 1970's).

Please keep the pics coming, I am really enjoying seeing your moddels. It is surprising how many script cars are still here in the Montreal area.

Interested in any of these? They (still?) used to be leased by QGRY... Custom-painted and lightly weathered Atlas. LMK

Thanks for the comments. The timeline is generally 2005 - 2010, although more modern stuff is starting to infiltrate. I'll be throwing up pictures of other cars as time progresses, although I've realized that I didn't get that many photographed during the last show. I'm getting comfortable with using washes for the base weathering, now to work out a system to get at the truck side-frames and then to paint the wheel-sets. (plus more scenery work, plus more work on the structures, plus the autos and trucks for the streets) I'm in good shape for engines, although I do want to go back and add some extra detailing to the older Athearn units. As that happens I'll add a thread on the EMD Engine board.

STRC 3551
Athearn PS5344 boxcar with Highball Graphics decals. Jim Abbott's freelance Superior Transfer line. I didn't have a proper FMC boxcar at the time so Jim was kind enough to assign a number series for the Athearn car. The first two photos show the car eastbound on the Kingston Model Rail Fans display layout at the Dec 2014 Belleville Trainshow. The last photo shows the car having been pulled empty from Kingsford Printing on my switching module at the start of its trip home to International Falls.

Yeah... way TOO clean! Unless of course, your maintenance is THAT good.

True enough, but with other projects at hand it is going to be a while before I go back and add the weathering. In the meantime, at least it is earning revenue. Bob

Three in the paint-shop.
Georgia Road
Roundhouse hicube.
Tomahawk River
Roundhouse hicube,
Canadian Pacific
Walthers waffle side.
All three still require detail touch-up and weathering. CP 209580 will get doors. Realized after I had sealed the decals that I had the wrong car number for the doors already painted. Bob

That looks REALLY good !! I tend not to sweat things like the wrong car number... Just patch it - if that wouldn't blow anybody's minds!!! Love the Homage to the Georgia Road too! ~ Carmine

re. CP 209580. The doors aren't a problem. It is the Walthers kit with multiple doors so I just have to grab the correct ones, give them a quick blast of medium grey and then on to the weathering. For an old car she is surprisingly clean; there is obvious rust and some road grime but not a ready for the wrecker's torch look. As for the Georgia Road, the short version of a long story is that I had an old Roundhouse hi-cube and liked the GARD scheme when I saw it on Highball Graphics website. While most of the freight fleet will be contemporary, I do like throwing in the odd freelance system as well. Besides the unique graphics, it is fun to research plausible loads moving up to or down from Montreal. More to come as I work towards the Kingston train show in March with on site photos after the show.

I was thinking that too, Bob. I search for PNW freelance Railroads, for the same reason.
Glad it's a simple fix!
