Had Shapeways make these same stacks to put on my Santa Fe ALCO S-2/S-4 Atlas & Bachmann models. Haven't figured out how to post pix on this website yet. BTW ALCO S-5 thru S-9 had these same stacks

You could always take some K&S aluminium tubing and carefully squish it in a vise. Works well. That's how I did the exhaust stack on my M420W.

Efram, I think that is the route I will go. Do you remember what size tubing you used? The Shapeway are very nice, but I just can not see spending $26 for 16 of them when I only one.

Yeah, $26 is waaaay too much. Plus, the aluminium stock has the proper color and texture from stock. The size will be determined by your unit's exhaust. The size I used on the M420W wouldn't work for you, as your exhaust stack is HUGE (comparatively speaking.) Just buy a couple of the larger pieces and experiment. If you are a math whiz, I'm sure you could use all kinds of formulas to render a dimensionally accurate piece. However, as these are models, I would ball-park it and start with 1/4" ID tube...

I used 2 plastic sprues from an Aircraft model kit, a piece of styrene shim between the 2, to get the right width, filler, and a small piece of grille on the top.

I did the same thing on several different models including an S7 and a couple RSC-13's. I was going to mention it, but I got the idea from Sean and didn't want to steal his thunder.
It certainly worked well!

Thanks Taylor! I also forgot to mention, that if you use a longer sprue (like 3" or 4") you'll have enough material to trade! I made the mistake of only making 1" worth and almost ran out when my first piece was too short.
