Looks good, I think your right, with some weathering the paints should blend together nice.

I'll have something new for this thread very soon, but for now I wanted to post with a request. I'm in need of a set of DA round covered hopper hatches for a centerflow I'm working on. If you've got an extra set, please let me know.

Here's the car that I need the hatches for. A WM Centerflow, one of three, which in 1966 had to have been among the first cars of this style that were built. I've done some overall detail improvements (such as brake gear, nicer draft gear) along with doing some work towards the high brake wheel and ladders. This was also my first experience with stretched sprue, which I think came out pretty well. I don't have a whole lot still to do, but it's going to be impossible to finish it without a set of hatches. I think the high brake wheel stuff looks pretty cool.

I was in a scratchbuilding mood this weekend, so I made up a weekend project and got to work. I didn't get it totally finished, but I made some really good progress compared to my normal pace: The prototype is one of WM's homebuilt wheel cars. I thought it would make a really interesting car to mix into a train here and there, and it was simple enough. A Central Valley car frame helped a lot in getting things set up right. I have a couple pieces of 3/16" steel rod underneath the wheel rests for weight. I've just got to add the air hoses, brakewheel linkage, and rivet decals and then it's time for the paint shop.

That looks great Adam! I admire scratchbuilding skills and hope to one day scratchbuild something to ride my mini rails. I look forward to seeing this completed.

Thanks Nick! I'm always amazed by how good a pile of styrene can look once it's a bit more structured in orientation Looks like this will end up being my first completed scratchbuild, though not my first scratchbuild whatsoever by any means.

Keeping with the WM non-revenue theme:

Cool scale car, any more progress on it? I'm tempted to do one for my future layout. The section of the beer line I'm going to model has a scale for weighing the grain boxcars at the breweries. Could be fun for operations to throw a scale test car into a random train to slow down the layout for a while

Been wanting to finish it, but no. I had to get a few final parts for the wheel car so I can paint them both but nothing more there either.
