A familiar yet different looking loco. This is a Victorian A class loco, it was rebuilt from a B class loco in the 80's . The rebuild included dash 2 electronics and replacing the old n/a 16 567 with a turbo charged 12 645. The exhaust has very little in the way of the quite treatment so these things roar. Just for comparison a pic of the B class, these locos are 1950's vintage and still used on some mainline trains.

Very cool, and very different from what is common in the US.
Nice work on the modeling too.

Are these all Auscision models or PSM?

All Auscision, unfortunately I can't afford the PSM ones. I must admit that the Auscision ones do run much better and haul more than the PSM ones anyhow. I need another 3 V/Line orange and grey ones to finish off the set. So far I've got 8 of the 11 locos in the class. I need A77, A81 and A85. All of them started as either A73 or A79 and have been renumbered as I got them.

This is another unit, similar to an SW1 but a lot smaller to fit in our loading gauge. The second and third order of these units had the unique 6-645 motor fitted to them. The fuel tank is also behind the cab above the frame.

The Victorian Railways version of the Doodlebug. We call it a DERM, Diesel Electric Rail Motor.

A pair of VR G8 locos, one with dynamic brakes, unique to only one loco (T413) in the class and the other as the balance of the class (T320-T345) were fitted.

I never noticed T413 has a different nose section vs the other Flatties (the numberboard section, already knew about the DB section....).

A pair of VR G8 locos, one with dynamic brakes, unique to only one loco (T413) in the class and the other as the balance of the class (T320-T345) were fitted. For a second there, I thought that those locomotives where Virginian EL-Cs. The paint scheme is almost dead on, and the car bodies look pretty close too, they just don't have pantographs. I think this might be the first instance of a railway copying a GE paint scheme and applying it to an EMD product. Usually it's the other way around! You have some really nice, and interesting models in your collection.

VR actually copied the Erie livery for their locomotives, this is just the hood loco version of it.

The above photo is B60 on her delivery run from NSW. If I'm not mistaken, that photo was taken at Albury, a break of gauge station in southern New South Wales. Note also the brand new open wagons on the flat cars just behind the loco. The paint scheme for the VR locos actually started in 1937 with the 4 S class steam locomotives after they were streamlined and painted royal blue and gold.

It's a copy of the Erie livery, they just used the colours from the earlier Scl.
