Model started as a Red Caboose O scale hi-nose kit. I lowered the short hood to match WM rebuilds starting in the mid-60's through about late 1971. A new bottom sill was installed for the cab glass and .030 styrene rod was glued in around the window edge to create the weathertite seal. The high MU stands were kitbashed using PSC MU connectors glued to strip styrene which was then sanded to represent the angled back of the stand. Brass parts from various vendors replaced less durable plastic one. A DesPlaines Hobbies brass frame was installed and the locomotive was powered with a Pittman motor and Weaver drive train components. NCE408 decoder and a Tsunami EMD sound decoder provides audio. Painted with Modelflex and lettered largely with Champion decals. The red WM and stripes came about to make the loco more visible at night using 3M Scotchlite lettering although later removed. Lettering was created using Word and an Alps printer. Number 40 went on to one of the first WM locos painted entirely in Chessie paint, ugh.
