Hey again.
Anyone know exactly what brand Athearn uses for their SP Lark dark grey and Scarlett paint? I've got 4 Athearn RTR SSW SD45s that need to get relettered to SP and I'd hate to strip them completely if I can find a good paint match. Any help would be appreciated.

Believe it or not, China uses automotive paint to paint the models and it is mixed to match color samples provided. They don't use "model paint". Your best shot is to find one that is close and tweak it yourself to match. You will very seldom find a model paint that exactly matches a factory model. If the model paint is close, you can usually get away with just painting panels and / or feathering it into the factory color. The eye can't really distinguish two different colors on two different surfaces (compare the roof to the side). The biggest advantage on our side is weathering. Even a slight weathering can make two dissimilar colors look almost identical. Mark.
