I have an awful time trying to install snow plows on locomotives. Even though I have the .40" piece of styrene. I either get the plow off center or crooked and then I resort to snipping off the ends and gluing it on to the pilot. Can anyone help me so I can get better results? It's really a stressor when you drill the holes and it doesn't fit right

Don't feel bad. I usually snip off the pegs and use slow set ACC to put my plows on. It always seems the pegs line up with the gussets on the backside of the pilot plate and tend to make the drill bit walk.

Gave up drilling the holes a long time ago for the same reason. I just glue it to the face of the pilot, its way easier to slide it around and get it centered before the glue dries.

I sit the shell on the bench, then hold the plow in front, and line it up. Then I make marks where the pins touch the pilot. Larger sized holes give me wiggle room for adjustment. Since I made oversized holes, I use filler and thick CA once the position is set.

I usually cut the templet off the back of the package and line it up until it looks correct. Then I mark the holes with a push pin so the drill bit doesn't wander and then drill.
