Tanks could be labeled (water pressure washing service) that way you make money from the transport of essential water to a customer after ore? Delivery $$$

If you put a second cab on the other end of a DD40AX would it be a Bi-Directional, Bi-Centennial?

If you aren't happy with the job Pine Sol does, consider trying Castrol Super Clean. I find it very effective on Athearn blue box and Atlas red box models, which couldn't be more different from one another but are both stubborn to strip. Thanks for the tip, I'll have to try some, Oven cleaner works OK for some models but Pine-sol was my favourite, until it changed and now does nothing. Dan M.
READ THE LABELS!! Some off-brands will still list pine oil as the active ingredient, and they will work as strippers. Pine Sol no longer has the pine oil in it, but others do.

my walmart Pine Oil seems to be pretty good, it takes some days, but with a 5 gallon tub, it's always some days before I get to project anyways...

So here's where I'm kind of stuck... the Cab end is an Atlas MP15 cab and base with interior that I picked up from sooomuchstuff for next to nothing, along with piles of other details - a plug for my favorite detail supplier...
The Cab base needs to sit about 1 battery box height above the deck. I'll build a ladder to get up there. But I'm at a loss on what to use for the deck, the extra battery box level and the pilot.
I've got tons of extra shells that can be chopped up for this purpose, but I just can't visualize it yet. The difference in width between the Atlas cab and the Blue Box shell is no problem, I'll form that from a sheet of brass.
What would be a decent deck and pilot? Suggestions please...

I haven't seen too many.... But I'd suggest the base from an Athearn SW1000/1500. It looks like it would be the right fit.

If there aren't any, then that's the way I'm going to go. I did compare a BB Trainmaster body to the DD40 frame and it looks promising, but I don't have a shell I want to sacrifice for that project. I've still got 3 more DD40's that are going to be reanimated with parts from the graveyard and a bolt of lightning though...

OK so where are we at....... Here is where the MP40 is located right now... OH NO!! Is that another DD40 in distress? Yes it arrived yesterday and is in the box of 91% alcohol along with the SW1500 that will provide the base and pilot for the elevated cab... Now what arrangement of fans and exhaust stacks should I put on the top? I have a ton of potential details...You already saw the O gauge horns that will be up there. Now I have to figure out exactly what fans will be there. I have some of the "tub" style GE exhaust stacks that I will be using. I also have the long grid style vents that could go up there or some large round fans. Assuming there is a huge fan in the front behind the wire mesh that I have, where would I position the roof fans and what type should they be? Should it have 1 super huge motor or two? I like the idea of 1 massive prime mover, but not opposed to having 2... Please chime in with your thoughts on how the BEAST is powered...remember this locomotive was created in the future, maybe 10 years from now. It could have some exotic prime mover, like a ceramic version of something found powering a Navy ship. Horsepower no less than 4000, but for this size and the fact that its in the future, more like 7-8000 would be better. Also it was created in the shop of a rebuilder so anything goes.... give me your best ideas....

A custom manufactured ceramicoat/teflon protected 40 cylinder 1290 basically two 645's added together to get your 1290 @7200 hp
Just my take on it with electro-diode ceramicoat traction motors to handle the hp at the rails
Hehehehehe

Good question if it remains turbocharged it could have 3-4 turbo stacks 10 cylinders per stack might sound unique
I would think extra cooling as the 645's are hot blooded engines generating a lot of heat hence the ceramicoat
Maybe with your front radiator fan they could get the tunnel motor mod to help the fan cool better
(just a thought as i don't know your parts supply)
Maybe seperate blower bulges for each 10 cylinder set amazing what you can Frankenstein
Or 4 blower bulges glued together to make a super blower
Who knows it might act like a Ferrari

Vince has some very creative ideas!! I'm thinking for cooling, modern & MASSIVE, a long bank of 52" Q-fans... And huge, hanging over grilles on the sides, like a SD90MAC, but double in length!

Now, if I understand your concept correctly, it would look something like this I think: Since there's already a huge bulge for the dynamic brakes, what I'm thinking is to shorten the bulge as if it was a CNW non-dynamic brake SD45... Here's a link to number 972: CNW 972 SD45
That will leave me with the huge bulge in the middle. Using the free program called Inkscape, I can make some 60" fan blades and cut them out with my Cricut. I've got plenty of screen for the covers and there is just enough space to put 4 larger fans in place of the 6 48" fans that were there. I've got some big bucket turbo exhausts so I can place 4 total stacks. I've invested about $50 in this project at the most, but I can't image taking a hack saw and floor sander to a $300 Athearn DD40 to make basically a vessel for a bunch of surplus parts from my parts bin...

In the future, where EMD does a lot more rebuilding....they use retro builders plates.... What if the EPA standards are rolled back and you could use a double 710? how much horsepower would that be?

Well as far as i know i think the 710 or 1420 would develope approx' 4300hp each or 3200kw for the v16 rail or a v20 used in marine and stationery apps'
So 8600 hp 6400 kw 32 cylinders exhaust stacks become mandate tier 2 quite silencers
This also would reconfigure your dynamics cooling system ect ect
