On my to-do list of models is a steam generator equipped NYS&W RS-1 in HO-scale. Thus far, all the detail parts I've seen appear to be for EMD models, and I've not seen a single RS-1 model that is factory equipped with such fittings. I was wondering if someone here can point me in the right direction for either the detail parts or a manufacturer that offered an RS-1 with steam generator. Thanks.

I think you could just use tubing for the exhaust have it come under the roof overhang and the other piece just looks square but I don't know how big, we have an exe Washington Terminal Rs1 on the Central New England rr but I believe steam generator stuff is long gone.

C&WI's RS1 had a steam generator exhaust stack like the custom finishing part mentioned above. The NYS&W exhaust stack was more like a stove pipe: www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1004895[\url]. The square gizmo is the air intake. Two pipes would also be present directly over the steam gen. One pipe is safety valve discharge, the other is for the orifice valve discharge. The orifice valve, normally closed, might be opened on a light engine to keep the steam generator cycling so as to have "drier" steam when cut into train again in winter operations. Dick Haave
