thanks Tom most of the list you posted is 2 new for me as I model the fall of 1959.
thanks Erik that is exactly the boats I'm talking about as I was thinking of doing an Ann Arbor style HCD diorama with a big boat backed into the dock so any drawings or info on those boats would be very much appreciated

You might want to contact The Marine Museum of the Great Lakes in Kingston, Ontario: www.marmuseum.ca/index.php/research/about-the-collectionThey have an amazing archival collection including many sets of drawings (for example, a couple of CN's Prince Edward Island carferries). They may have exactly what you need. Steve Hunter

If you can find a copy of the video "Vignettes of the Ann Arbor Railroad", it has a section with these boats in it, including a short walkaround inside the freight car hold, watching the loading and unloading of freight cars, the on deck loading apron and on the cabin deck of the City of Milwaukee. Lots of good detail scenes if you want. Seeing these boats being loaded/unloaded and the side list they had, it's amazing they didn't capsize, although I know a few did from time to time. As I played the video, I would pause the tape and just take a photo of the scene with my camera, so I would have quick reference photos to build with, although I never will, as I'm planning on modeling the ACL, SCL, GM&O, Frisco & L&N around Birmingham AL now. LargeMike like you my modeling has changed from modeling the great lakes and n scale to the present era of 1980-82 in ho and modeling the mid & lower midwest to the gulf & on into Florida. with my freelanced KCW that took over my original freelanced road the Indian Rock.
