Does anybody know what is for the tiny square welded on 2nd gen front hoods as well as in the long hood end? Cheers

That is used to hold the access door open. The knuckle buster latch handle hooks into fitting and keeps the access door from falling down.

Ed, that is the short hood vent, where you may sometimes find a chemical toilet. Without the vent, the odor can make your eyes water when the doors and windows are closed.

Thanks guys. I should have mentioned, I need them for O-scale (but I can probably estimate the dimensions from a HO part).
