Here's my pimped out Golden Eagle. It's been rewired to accept DCC and has super bright LED lighting including purple ground effects... Here it is before I started: Disassembly: Rebuilding the motor: Rewiring and installed LED lighting: Finished front: Finished side view: I never get tired of Super 630's. When properly rebuilt and rewired they are incredibly powerful and reliable. Making them DCC ready can be tricky, but there are several excellent online guides to doing it. Traction tires are easily obtained on ebay. Handrails are pretty easy to make from brass wire. Coming soon will be my Silver Streak....

Geez, I don't know what to say...other than I've never seen anyone do anything with a super 630 this 'shiny'.
This used to be the staple shell for making a NW C630, but your attempt is different, for sure.

I like it! We need to see a pic of it lit up in the dark.

That IS pimped out. If you're not having fun with trains, then what's the point? I love the plow, but I agree you need to get a night photo with the ground effects lit up?

I agree that a night photo with the ground affects is in order. You can't just tell us about it, and then not show us!

here's a couple shots in the dark, not that good though...I'll probably post a video to my youtube channel which shows the ground effects better. The lights are so bright they tend to wash out the camera, but here's a little bit on an idea... Here's a second in night vision.... Neither picture does justice to seeing the real thing, so it will have to be a video pretty quick...

The ground effect reminds my of a trip our crew took on GMD1 1437, the traction motor flashed over and it looked something like your picture!

A little update....my youtube channel is elite194
I don't have my Golden Eagle on there yet, just some videos of my Heljan Brewery and some other train videos including a car shaker unloading gravel which is kind of cool.
I got 2 more Golden Eagles and the Golden Eagle caboose that I'm getting close to finishing up with the help of my 5 year old daughter....she's the one that dictates special effects that only a 5 year old could think of, so the caboose will be pimped out.
We have a tub of 5 gallons of Pine Oil that has another Super 630 in it right now and it will be gilded in gold and converted to dual motors when it comes out next week.
I did score a Dual Motor Golden Eagle on ebay that is coming in a day or 2. I've never encountered dual motor Tyco stuff before.
Some of you out there must be familiar with the practice of putting 2 motors in Tyco stuff and I'd like to hear more about the history of this practice.
My Silver Streak is getting a 2nd motor right now and should be ready pretty quick. It will also get 3 axles installed with silver sideframes.
Next up will be a Midnight Express all pimped out as soon as I get one.
I'm still working on a decent video of the ground effects, but with 3 Golden Eagles and my new as yet unnamed Golden something along with a tricked out caboose it should be pretty impressive.
The way I wire this stuff is a simple bridge rectifier and resistor and then a string of LED super brights. I have them all set for DCC, but I still haven't chosen my setup for that yet....
