I got in the mail today my most recent Feebay find, an "Ajin E8". Turns out it was an Overland/Ajin drive with a Riverossi shell on it. Price was still reasonable, so I'm still happy with it.
So my question is this. What are people's opinion on the Riverossi shell? I have a Proto E8 that I plan on running with this, and before I dig in on detailing a shell for the overland drive, I need to decide if I will stick with the Riverossi shell or find another Proto shell to go with it. I'd like opinions on the Riverossi vs Proto shells, as I am not the best at identifying flaws in different manufacturer's shells.
Thanks,
Chris

Chris, if you can, show us pictures from all angles. I have not seen a Rivarossi diesel in quite a while, but I can say that their fidelity to the prototype on some models left much to be desired.

The Rivarossi is super-old-school tooling, and while I can't do a side-by-side with a P2K or BLI shell, IIRC the detailing was a little crude by modern standards.
The P2K has a few odd quirks about it, but I'd say that for the price you can pick one up it might be a good idea to put a second P2K shell on your Overland drive...that way, no matter what, the two will look right together.

Thanks for the info, that agrees with my assessment of the two shells side-by-side as well. I've taken some pictures, just got to upload them to the web so I can post them.

Looks like the cab area is longer than the Proto, but cutting it down and getting a good fit would be a real challenge. The door headlight is too small, but that is an easy fix. The real bitch will be removing the cast-on hand holds on the side doors, but it can be done. I don't think I would replace the fans, but removing and replacing the piping(?) on the roof and adding lift rings would do a lot to improve its appearance.
The skirting/fuel & water tank detail should be on the car body, not on the frame. I think Hi-Tech has something you can use to fill that spot.
If you are satisfied with how the mechanism runs, and it fits into what you need for your stable, it might be worth the time and effort (if it were mine, I would give it a try). Keep us posted!
