Ok I need some help plz I just installed a soundtraxx at1000 decoder in an athearn RTR and I hooked everything as the instructions said and I can't get the 1.5v light bulbs to work? I only have fwd and revs lights hooked up no additional lights. When I went to test it only the revs lights come on but they are so low you barley can tell there on and when I switch to forward a tiny red LED lights up on the board but no lights? I'm not sure if I may have messed up the board on accident or if it's possibly a bad board but I checked the hook ups and I'm sure there right? ? ANY HELP PLZ!!!

I went to the Soundtraxx site to look for a manual to see if I could help but I couldn't find one specific to the AT series.
Here are a few suggestions to check, some may be too basic:
1. You are using 1.5V bulbs, Correct? 2. Are the bulbs wired in series or parallel, and is that they way the instructions say to do it? 3. Do you need to modify the circuit board to enable the bulbs? They may be a trace or something that needs to be cut. 4. Is there an option in a CV somewhere that determines if a bulb of LED is used? 5. Did you add a resistor to the wiring that maybe isn't supposed to be installed?
If you provide a link to the specific AT-1000 manual maybe I can offer more specific help. You may also want to try the Soundtraxx support group at groups.yahoo.com.
Sorry I couldn't help more.
Lou

Ok thanks guys. It's puzzling cause I had circuitron bulbs wired up and I could not get them working so I bought lights from athearn that they use on there genesis and RTR line and then they worked great. Ok now I'm wondering is it because the athearn lights use several small copper strands instead of one solid wire like circuitron uses? ? Anyone else have this issue?

The difference is the amperage rating of the bulbs. The circuitron bulbs are usually 30ma or 40ma bulbs. The cheap bulbs that Athearn uses in the Genesis engines are either 10ma or 15ma bulbs which would require a higher value resistor than the Circuitron bulbs. The onboard resistor on the 1.5 volt pads is designed for the lower rated bulbs and won't properly drive a 30ma or 40ma bulb - even though they are all 1.5 volts.
In order to use the Circuitron bulbs, you would have to use the 12volt pads and use a 270 ohm resistor for 40ma bulbs or a 360 ohm resistor for 30ma bulbs.
