The lights on the 1396 make it look like a fairground ride!

how old are some of those pics? How quick does the W&S turn around a paint job? I know they get contract work but seems like such a small work space.

The recession cut down on the amount of work available. Turnaround depends on the amount of work to be done. Brand new engines in primer go through pretty quick. If bodywork needs to be done, the time goes up. The extra lights on 1396 are for remote control apparatus. Big box in the cab and short nose to make it all work. More stuff out of paint.

wow that russell plow turned out nice.
Typically how long would it take to paint a new SD70ACE in primer? Is it painted or re-primered when they arrive? i mean they do get pretty dirty while enroute to the shop im sure.

Is it painted or re-primered when they arrive? i mean they do get pretty dirty while enroute to the shop im sure. The SD70ACes showed up in primer. A bit of cleaning, then into paint they go. No need to sandblast, fix bodywork, etc. That SD9 needed all kinds of work to get all the doors along the sill to work properly. The UP Heritage ones took longer. One-off paint schemes, then tarps (except for the MKT one). The plow was quite rough on delivery. I'm pretty sure it was a MILW Shops-built plow, double track at that.

Good job on all that paint jobs though. Takes some serious skill to do what those guys do.
