I talked to Lee from Bowser last week, and he said that the shipment was at his shop on the 20th...so they may not be in anyone's hands yet...unless you reside in PA. www.pawstrains.com/ho_c430_locomotive_by_bowser.htmThe cab roof line was improved! I'd be interested in a good review myself.
The website photos appear to show some lack-luster paint coverage on the finer details. Perhaps it's just the photo...
I can't tell if the locos have screens or are just "simulated".

you betcha! Get yer wallet out Taylor! Right on, I'll have to bug him to make me four undec cabs to replace the ones on my C630M's. I already secured the powered chassis for two HR616's. Too bad none of the Canadian roads had C-430s they were such an interesting looking locomotive. Somehow the four axle centuries seemed bigger and, er, stronger than their Geep counterparts, as did the six axle centuries and the SD40-2's. |

My hobby shop I deal with sent an E mail a few days ago and said the three undecs I ordered are in.......but I won`t get to the shop in another week or two.

Here are the pics I took of my new Bowser Reading C430. The airhorn was broke off when it arrived but kinda glad since I replaced it with the correct one from Details West. The Locomotive looked and runs great. Now a trip to the weathering booth.

A GBW unit in the Red with Gray stripe scheme arrived at my LHS yesterday (Sat, as well as an undec). It is gorgeous, I'm drooling. All weather windows on it, both sides. Crisp detail all around. It rides on very nice looking Alco Hi-Adhesion trucks, just like the real life counterpart. It's going to be hard for me to wait for the solid red version, I may break down and get this one instead.

I got M&E #16 and #17 (duh). My dad got 4 Conrail ones (2 blue, one PC patch, one RDG patch). They all look absolutely spectacular. Even the detail differences between CR 2053 and 2054 are correct!

I pick up my GBW red scheme at our fleamarket on the 18th. And because I shifted my era to summer 1973, I won't have to do much weathering as it was painted April 1973.

I got my Conrail 2054 about a week ago, just opened it up yesterday when I got back from working.
So far from what I noticed they definitely fixed the roofline, and the handrails seem to be made of a little more sturdy plastic. This loco is really well done, the only issues I see are the rear of the longhood is cocked to the left (same as my bowser c630) and the subtle differences in handrails/pilots. It runs really smoothly and the sound is ok but a bit muffled. I looked into the shell to see if it might be possible to flip the speaker up but it just gets worse. Save the money and get the Non sound version. The decoder seems high quality but the speaker and sound exit points are what is lacking. Paint is smooth and crisp, the number boards and large CONRAIL on the radiator sections are just a bit off but it's hard to notice. The only way to fix the longhood would be to cut the glue seams and remove some material from the right side so it sits level.
This is a very high quality locomotive, don't hesitate to buy one if you want it. You will not be disappointed.
So I have a black patched Conrail 2053 that should be here in a few days, I'll give it a good look and update my post.

I got my Conrail 2054 about a week ago... I have a black patched Conrail 2053 that should be here in a few days... So you also got M&E #16 (#2054) and #17 (#2053), but in their previous lives. My father also got both of those CR engines and they look spectacular. They even got the handrail differences correct - #2054 has chains over the drop steps, while #2053 has straight bars. |

The handrail difference is in the engineers side cab to nose handrail, mine is more curved than having 2 distinct angles.
