Not sure why, but all I get is a blank white page when I click on the link in the post. I would really like to see the ALCO.
Thanks, Glenn

Just so everyone could see Roberval's work, I saved a couple of his photos to my Photobucket account to share here. Both of these are nice looking models, I like the RSD version a lot!

Man... if only Atlas would offer the RS32/RS36 in N-scale...

The RSD33 is super easy. Just round up some RSD trucks and install. They fit right in place of the 2-axle truck. Fuel tank even clears.

Interesting mod for the RSD-33s.

The Lake Superior & Ishpeming RSD-12 1804 was built about 1963, the last one built. It used an RS-36 style body rather than the earlier RS-11. I suppose a 2000hp version could have been made if requested. In modeling one correctly, you would have to take into account the extra length of the RSD over it's RS series relation, a matter of several feet I believe.

Just a small note and not trying to nit pick but the RSD12 is a six axle RS11. The RSD15 was longer, which also contributed to its "Alligator" nick name.
Just food for thought.

Yes, the RSD-15 was quite a bit longer than the RSD-12. However, and this has been mentioned in several threads, the RSD-12 is a tad bit longer than the RS-11.
RS-11 length 56'6" RSD-12 length 58'1" RSD-15 length 66'7"
So as you can see the RSD-12 is aprox 1'5" longer than the RS-11, and the RSD-15 is 10'1" longer than the RS-11 and 8'6" longer than the RSD-12.

My apologies John, I should have tried to at least researched that before opening my mouth.
I never knew that, and thought that was absurd that Alco would make two similar models, yet two different frame and carbody lengths.
Thanks for the info and now I guess I can strike the RSD-12 off my wanted list.
Thanks,
Alex

When Atlas did their RSD-12, they put the RSD trucks under the RS-11. The backlash from the missing couple of feet is why they never re-ran it, but the same effect can be had by doing the same yourself, or even lengthening the frame and bosy to correct dimensions. The few RSD-12's I will need will be good enough this way, at least until something better comes along, ex C&O/B&O locos purchased by LS&I's leasing arm LASCO, some of which were leased to CNW in 1973 and 1974. That's why I don't feel so bad for keeping my ancient RSD-12s that I built. They don't run like an Atlas, but they look right. The one problem with the old Model Power trucks is that they were geared high. Even with the old GSB "Tan Can" motors I installed, they have a rabbit start. I hook up a Proto 2000 SD-9 with them and it keeps them in check because the RSD-12s are kind of light.
