For those of you who saw or participated in my "stripping factory paint" thread, this is the project I'm working on. Battenkill Railroad #4116. I will eventually be doing both of Battenkill Railroad's RS3's. I started with this one as it seemed the easier of the two. It started life as an Athearn RTR in Southern paint. After swapping a few parts with the N&W Athearn RTR that will eventually become its stablemate, it was time to dive in. I haven't painted a locomotive since '95 or '96 and I'll admit I was a little sheepish. I did alright though, only a couple of mistakes. Here's a couple of pics as it sits, with paint and decals applied as well a little bit of the prelim detail work. Next is a dynamic brake grid for the short hood (not sure where to find that at) and adding the small details.
Sorry for the poor picture quality, the phone in my camera is awful.
A lot of detail painting and weathering work left yet, but it's coming along.

That's nice! I got a ride in her once when BKRR used to run passenger trains between Salem, and Cambridge.

Yes, it's made for the FA - it has a slight curve to the bottom that needs a slight bit of filing to fit the RS3. The marker lights are Cal Scale items.
Mark.

Nice work...I'm in the process of doing one of now. I wonder how many are modeling one of the these since Highball released the decal set.

Probably quite a few, it's a popular little short line as far as I can tell. I'm a little disappointed the cab heralds are a little too big and they don't include the lettering for above the headlights, but beggars can't be choosers.

Although the BKRR units are about 10 years too new for my layout, it is one snazzy looking paint scheme.

It looks very nice and the Cal Scale #280 class lights always set off the front on early Alcos!
