What would be a good and fairly realistic color for painting the inside of First Gen and Covered Wagon EMD cabs? I would imagine that different roads used different internal colors but I am looking for a good catchall. Also, does anyone have a picture of the inside Cab Ceiling of an E or F unit, specifically showing the position of the internal Cab lights(s)?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've always assumed that EMD cabs were either a light green or a pale gray for the first 40 or 50 years. I've always used RAF Interior Green and Pale Gull Gray, both by Model Master. I'm sure any close colour would work.

Ive aleays read that EMD used the pale/mint green color for a long time. It wasnt until the late 90s that they switched to gray. Of course i cant find my reference right now so im probably wrong on the dates.

Our gp20 on the Central New England has gray electrical cabinet and front wall, the floor is black with red! seats, black control stand, I don't remember what color the side walls are.

Do a google search for EMD interior color then go to "Images". There's few there that show pale green or gray. But at a 3'-4' viewing distance can you really see interior color?

Just a quick note.
The "green" color used on the 1st generation EMD units is called "Seafoam Green". This was a very commonly used color and was popular with the military. It was also used for the interiors of many Blue Bird school buses back in the 70s (wall, ceiling).
Most EMD Dash-2 units came with medium gray cab interiors. I have photos that I took inside of the cabs of SDP40Fs and a GP38-2 that show gray. I'll eventually upload them to my FLIKR account.
