Very impressive, the weathering job is outstanding. Is the interior fully detailed out and painted as well?

I'm not sure what flaws you are speaking of - the only difference I see is the patched windows on your build, vs. the prototype photos with no window holes. But, the finish and weathering on your model is top notch. You've done an admirable job. Here is a cousin - photo taken last year in the RBMN yard at Nesquehoning Junction, near Jim Thorpe, PA. It's funny that this cab has no ACI plates on it... It seemed to be in relatively good shape. That is rainwater from a downpour streaking the sides darker... -bill

Southern Caboose X317 was from the last order of cabooses for Southern. They arrived in 1980 from Fruit Growers Express. Thats why they don't have ACI plates as they stopped using the ACI system in late 1977. Thanks, Andrew

Thanks Andrew. So much for my assumption on being numbered in series!

The flaws I speak of are the patched windows (that I had no idea of how to remove effectively) and the floor of the caboose being too short. This caused the end railings to not be able to be mounted in the proper place. I had to mount them in a place that made them straight but caused details attached to them (that also connected to the roof) to be slightly leaning...looks bad. Thanks for the kind comments guys!

Thanks for the kind comments pacbelt! Great job! What materials did you use for the lighting - both interior lights and end lights? Thanks! I used a Digitrax decoder to run the lights. The end lenses are MV red lenses. The lights are all small surface mount LED's. If you look at this thread you will see photos of the process and more info on how I ran all of the wiring...I had to make electrical pickup trucks too.

Any pictures of the underside? , currently working on my first one, two on order if the ever get shipped:( Viper...so sorry for the very delayed response. You hit this thread at a time when I was being consumed by life. New relationship, moving ect. Anyway, I'm getting back into my groove now. Unfortunately, I do not have any pics of the underside. I just looked at pics I could find on-line for the underside details...which were sparse. If you are still around and needing a bottom pic I'll be glad to take one and post it here. Just let me know. I hope your kits showed up and are being a blast to work with. If it isn't to late, I have a PDF on how to build these kits by Bob Harpe I can email you. It's chock full of great information.

Definitely a well done model, and the flaw was invisible to me! The salt technique was amazing and the wiring/progress thread was phenomenal! Thank you!
