Well while I am waiting on some other parts to come in for my other build I thought I would start on these two BN gp38-2 locomotives. They are athrean blue box. I am not going to do a lot to them just some simple things and put dcc in them. The only thing I think I have left to get for it is the motors for it I think I am just going to try and find a athrean rtr motor for them. I gave 17.50 each for them so not much in them right now and I have the decoders for them got that for free off another rr fourm. I found the parts I needed for one of them so far in a bag of detail parts that I got for 10.00. Here is a pic of what one of them looks like right now.

Well got my parts in from highball graphics today. I must say I am very happy with them and will use them for the rest of my detail parts. I got the parts for these two and two of the gp38-2 that I am going to build in my free lance railroad. Boy am I finding out the glueing parts to a painted locomotive is not easy. After these two I think I will strip anything that I build after these two are done.

Nice Athearn "Bluebox" GP38-2 models. Great to hear you bought all those detail parts from Highball Graphics. In the past 2 yrs i've bought many New England decals from this company plus quite a few detail parts. I also have to admit that Highball Graphics are great people to deal with. Certainly will be buying much more decls & parts from them. Thanks. Pete H. Australia

Nice models. Just for the record, it's "ATHEARN", A-T-H-E-A-R-N, not "Athrean", "Athren", "Atern" or any of a bunch of other misspellings. Sorry, nothing personal, just had to vent... that drives me nuts.

Give it time, they'll eventually get it!! LOL!!!

Ok here are some pic with the dcc installed This REALLY turned out nice! Question - that DOESN'T look like a RTR Athearn motor. It does seem to fit well. What is it?? ~ Carmine
