Hey everyone, Back again! Currently on the bench is both the AC4400CW's involved in the ''Tripple 7'' runaway from the movie Unstoppable. I have 2 Athearn BB AC4400's that have been upgraded to RTR standards with newer plastic handrails and motors. Both shells are currently about to go into an alcohol bath for paint stripping but once that is complete then I will start the detailing & painting process... The only real issue here is the lack of AWVR decals meaning all the logos will half to be painted on meaning lot's of extra masking and fine detail painting! Hopefully I can get some photos of the units as they come along... This should prove to be a challenging, but fun little project! ;D

These seem to be a popular topic. The blue SD40-2 that starred has had some very good renditions made of it, I haven't yet seen any good renditions of the two AC4400's. I saw all three on evilbay the other week but they were just repaints of BB models and not up to today's standards, the price was ridiculous too!
Anyway, good luck with your project, look forward to seeing your progress so get some phots up when you can.

I wonder if there's a way to get a run of AWVR decals made? I think there could be enough interest from people wanting to model the units seen in the movie. Highball graphics come's to mind...

Railroadjeep, you know model railroaders. I'm sure if Highball made the decals available, they would probably sell enough to recoup their money. As a matter of fact, I just spoke with them last week about making some decals for a short line near me called "Buckingham Branch"

As a matter infact, I am going to contact Highball about making me some AWVR decals, For sure they could easily get their money back on the set. So many people want these! I do alot of custom painting, detailing, and weathering models, I have about 4 orders of all three AWVR Unstoppable units and getting decals made is vital! The logos are so complex to paint on...

It's funny, but the CP 9777, AKA AWVR 777 was roaming around the D&H recently. I had the second unit a a leader one day.
