Thanks Josh, I will look into those window kits. That and the appropriate nose detail might be all the Athearn cab needs to look "right"
Any further progress on your model?

Hey Josh, on the Athearn Dash 9 cab, is there something wrong with the angle of the windshield, or the nose dimensions? I'm not sure what it is, but something about the Athearn cab has always seemed off to me. I have one that I've studied pretty closely, but I can't quite put my finger on the issue, it looks ok when looked at head-on, but every other angle seems a little wierd. Perhaps it is just the thickness of the plastic... Anyway, thanks for posting your progress on this unit, I'm planning to build a lot of BNSF Dash 9's, so this is useful information. - Chris The basic dimension of the Athearn cab is incorrect. The windshield is too close to the nose. That throws all the angles off. There is no good way to fix it, without retooling the entire cab. Dave Hussey

Hey Guys,
I think the thing that makes Athearn -9/AC4400 cabs look akward is that the windows are all square corners while the prototype has rounded corners. This is on problem that was recently corrected on their EMD cabs. Other than that, I'm with ya'll I can't figure it out either....

oh duh, didn't see that there was a page 2... anyway this looks really nice. I hadn't put a lot of research into -9s, so it's nice to be able to see this and kinda cheat! lol I just hope mine come out ok. I have 2 in the works + another I might do after that. I want to check and see if Cannon makes a -9 cab...

Cannon only makes EMD... No one makes a replacement Dash 9 cab, besides the Canadian versions from Kaslo.
