I don't know if this kind of thread is allowed here, but here goes nothing.
Is there any chance that Cannon and Company would make cabs and noses for the GP7-20? IIRC, these would also be correct for SD7-24s.
I'd buy several if they were made, and if they had cab front options like large single-pane windhsield (GP20-SD24) and split-windshield (later rebuilds) I'd buy several more.
As for a nose, that one is kinda out there with all the variations in chop-noses. But a high-hood with scribe ines on the inside would probably assist greatly with chopping noses.

No, other than SW cabs and GP20 fans, Cannon has done no first gen stuff...
but the upcoming 36/48 fans are maybe a hint of things to come???
A generic gp7/9 chopnose and thinwall cab would be nice....

I'd be in for a bunch of early GP cabs and chopped noses. Even a Topeka cab would be nice...those units wound up all over the place!!

Yes - I think these would be really good too, and could use some myself.

Every part like thinwall cabs or chopped noses that helps to model GP8s and GP/SD10s will be welcome.

If he's considering early GP parts at all, I have a feeling Dave might be waiting to see what Athearn does with their Genesis GP7/9. Apparently they are going to offer many versions, including the Topeka cabs and even some of the Paducah rebuilds, I believe. He probably wouldn't want to move ahead with too many early parts if Athearn ends up producing complete models of a lot of the variations people have had to kitbash for years.

Athearn doesn't seem willing to sell parts anymore.
Besides, Athearn Genesis parts don't hold a candle to Cannon...
Cannon needs to look at Alco parts too, imagine a thinwall C630 cab to rid the new Bowsers of that cab-omination on them now...

What I would really like is a replacement for the God-Awfull radiator grills on the Proto GP-18.

Are they really that bad if you remove the shutters and flush-fit the grilles?

Really the grills themselves are fantastic and very accurate. They are perfect for making late SD18 grills and the four SD24's that carried the late grills. If there is anyone that doesnt want them, please send them my way

Athearn doesn't seem willing to sell parts anymore.... Athearn does still sell parts, but their process for selling them is not very user friendly at all. They only list a small portion of their available parts on the Horizon website. If you want something in particular, you have to look the number(s) up on the parts listing for a particular model and then email them the part number(s) to see if they have them in stock, and to find out what the price is. I've done with this some of their freight car parts, such as the end cages on their ACF 2970 two-bay covered hopper. Their reps have told several people that they will not be offering an "all-in" undecorated version of their upcoming Genesis GP38-2 model (i.e. an undecorated model that includes all the possible parts to model all variations). They said there are just too many parts (hundreds) for them to include in one box. However, they said they will make the parts available so you can order what you need (e.g. extended range dynamic brake bulge) for your particular project. The two big problems I have with their parts are (1) as I already mentioned, the difficulty of ordering them; and (2) the fact that they sell out and don't replenish them again. I wish everyone would follow Atlas's lead in making parts easily available on their website. Dave
