I don't know that i've ever seen a model of the locomotive that NS painted up for Southern Railway's 100th anniversary. I am doing one right now and thought you fellas might want to see a model. If anyone has pictures of a different model, definently post them, Southern Railway engines never get old to look at.

Very nice indeed Andrew! I plan on modeling one as well as a regular NS GP60 as I have a bunch of Roadrailers. Back in the 1990's I really enjoyed seeing them and somehow I took a liking to them.

I had the Athearn version years back and sold it probably back in 2002 or so. It was a bidding war on Ebay and I think it sold for like $90 or so. I couldn't believe it. Granted I put details on it and had it weathered nicely, but I figured $45 tops for it. Considering I only paid $25 for it and $10 for details... That was in the late 90's though.
That particular engine however was the BIGGEST PIECE OF JUNK I ever had the chance to run. It shook so bad your eyes hurt in your head, it wouldn't load well and was slippery when you started to pull. I hated it and I know I wasn't the only one. LOL

Smoke, Looks good. That paint scheme would look good on about anything though. One nit pick though. The 4600-series are actually GP59s, not GP60s. They only have 12-cylinders as opposed to the GP60's 16. As a result, there's only 6 engine room doors per side where the GP60 had 8.

Just a side note if you want to do this..NS has applied a solid white stripe going down the side. Like on the horseheads.

nssd70m2, The customer ordered it without the white sill stripe so it will be left off. Also the step edges are yellow as are the handrail edges. Here is a picture without the handrails where the step edges are yellow. The AC unit has been removed as well. The ditchlights have been wired up and are ready to go. They are going to be programmed to flash. The P2k sunshades were replaced with A-line metal ones.

Looking good Andrew It just so happens that currently the 4610 is being used here locally in the NS yard ( Dock Junction Yard in Brunswick, GA) as the yard switcher. Chuck Yeargin

The plow scraping is cool. Don't see that modeled too often.
Good work!
