I started this forum for those that like to detail locomotives. Many forums and message boards are only for general subjects, and you will find few replys or posts pertaining to detailing in general, and when you do they get buried quickly under the mishmosh of Model Train discussion. If you like pure detail then this forum is for you. Please feel free to post photos of your projects here, and try not to be a rivet counter. What is good enough for the builder is his or her interpretation of their end of this hobby.

I like the idea of this board! i just came back into the hobby after a hiatus of about 5 years (college) and have started to get the equipment back out. Hopefully i will have a project going shortly, i want to detail an Athearn GP-38 for either the Chicago South Shore or the Chicago Missouri and Western following the Model Railroader articles from a few years ago. I have all the materials, now i just have to find the time to do it!

Hi Randy...I just put the first post in the 1st Generation folder - a set of Atlantic Coast Line unts.
Question/suggestion for a place for people to post prototype detail shots...it might be useful as a place to share that information.
Thanks!

Hi Randy, Good idea and nice models! I'm going to have to revise my numbers that I tease Andy with. Counting you we now have 5 N&W 70's-era modelers in the world I'll post some photos over the next week or so. I'm currently working on upgrading one of the new Athearn SD40-2s and a U30B. Greg Davis N&W Tampa Division LOL!!! Thanks for joining Greg, I'll be looking forward to your photos!

Great idea for a forum. Detailing diesels is my main focus I hope the site grows and becomes "the place to go" for detail nuts like me. Also hope it does not become a argue and fight site like so many other forums..........

Randy,
Thanks for the invite to your forum. I looke dit over and I really like this idea. To many times I have posted on other chat groups only to not get my questions answered or for the subject to be totally changed.
I look forward to participating here and doing what I can to help others the same.

I tip my hat to you and Andy for the work you do detailing diesels. I've been spending the last 11 years detailing and promoting 1/18 diecast muscle cars because I got burned out on trains. I now have a new vigor because of modelers like yourself.
