Hello fellow detailers, I wanted to post these pics and see what you guys think of them. This is a new Intermountain ES44AC GEVO that I upgraded with some wire parts, plus a few other details such as Hi-Tech hoses, Sergent couplers, and a few more. One of the main things I wanted to see with this was how much of a difference the wire parts made compared to the factory parts. To my eye, the Railflyer cut bars are a standout, and I think that the scale handrails and grabirons make a noticeable improvement too. (I'm not thrilled with the paint match of the Polly Scale UP Armor Yellow with the factory yellow, but I think that will be less noticeable once this is weathered.) Thanks for looking! Ed

Overall what you have done is a great improvement to what the model was right out of the box. Nice job for sure.
Get you some MV lenses and sand the silver backing off and install them in your lights so they look like bulbs and the light will shine through them, will look alot better than black holes.

wow Ed, that is a great improvement in all areas. I guess the coupler pocket is a little more noticeable, but I don't think it's any big deal, plow in the front, train in the rear anyway.
The spare knucles are a DW part. Although, Railflyer is making this part as well and I'm sure that's very nice. But, it's 10 bucks for one, so for this project, that would be $20. I still want to try them though, they will be in my next parts order.

Thanks guys, glad you liked this. I totally agree about the coupler pocket, and IIRC Railflyer might have had a scale one in the works. On this model the couple pocket goes all the way thru the pilot and attaches to the model's frame, so a scale-sized pocket might take some fitting for that, plus of course there is the slight problem of the oversized hole to fill in I used the the DW castings for the spare knuckle; I'll have to check out the RF ones. The MV lenses sound like an interesting idea too, do you just glue them in place with some clear CA? The one other thing about these factory ditch lights is that they are a lot thicker than the proto, to accommodate the plastic light pipe. So it would be interesting to consider replacing them entirely with the RF ditch lights and a pair of those #603 sunny-white LEDs. Thanks again for your replies! Ed
