Some of you may have seen my "Back in the Game?" thread, in which I shared this picture: (As always, click my thumbnails to make them bigger) I purchased the SD40-2s specifically to model two locomotives used in filming "Unstoppable," specifically 7346 and 1206. rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1746774rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1749567Well, I completed the tear-down, and began the painting process. This is just the One SD40-2, I decided to keep the factory black on the walkways with this one. Here they are mid-decaling after painting, when I ge tmoving on a project I tend to forget to take pictures along the way. And the two locomotives just about completed with the decaling: More and Better pictures to follow soon! Once daylight rolls around again...

I have a few covered hoppers I'm getting ready to do for Trans-Grain, as well as some ex-Rock Island coal hoppers they borrowed from B&P for the shoot. Got the word today I'm Piggy-flu positive, so, Mandatory 7-days off work to play.

Not much in the way of Updates, I got the handrails installed on 7346, and about 85% of the decals completed on 1206. All that remains for the 1206 is the reflective sill stripes and misc. warning labels down the side. The pilots need to be painted yellow as well. On the 7346 I have a Plow to add to it for now, and the number boards need painted and decaled. Hopefully I'll have some better pictures after Wednesday!

MY HATS OFF to those who model KCS units with frequency! All of the SD40-2s for the movie were leased from Wheeling & Lake Erie (or dug out of a junkyard....) and are Ex KCS units, KCS had the brilliant idea of Bumble Bee stripes on the ends of their handrails. A very noticeable detail, which crossed my eyes to paint! And I've one done One unit of two, what of those with Fleets of KCS units*?!?! *Yes I'm aware Microscale has decals, roll with me here....

The 1206 is the first locomotive for the movie I saw, caught it rolling through DuBois one day, not to mention it is a VERY nice paint scheme, I'm considering painting an SW1200 like that as well, but lettering it for A&W (my railroad) since the lettering is close.

New guy to the boards, so pardon me if this is a repeat question:
Where/how do you make your custom decals? my LHS is going out of business, and I dont need 80 sheets for 2 locomotives...
Nice work!
