I have a few projects in the winds for a couple of customers. Each one wants a BQ23-7... I'll be hacking BQ23-7 cabs from Bachmann units, and placing them on Atlas B23-7 shells. I'm not 100% sure they're going to be 100% accurate (B23-7's have allot of changes across their builds...).
Basic constriction will involve replacing the grabs, sand fillers, & number boards on the cab, replace the windows, adding sun shades, MV lenses/BLMA blank outs for the marker lights, correct the location of the horn, add an interior (if someone has photos, or an idea of whats there I'd appreciate the info!), adding wipers, and making new doors, then custom paint.

So much fun! I'm going to correct everything & anything on mine, but the customer units, its what they pay for that gets done.

Here's the initial photo shoot. L-R: Bachmann BQ23-7 shell, Atlas B23-7 (with correct Blomburg B side frames), modified Atlas B23-7 shell with a modified BQ23-7 cab from a donor Bachmann unit. Only one customer ordered the wrong B23-7 so I only have to swap trucks on one unit. I have one of my two spare BQ23-7's now, waiting on the other one, and I still need to order myself 2 B23-7's for my own builds.

That's going to be an Awesome model. That is another thing I have considered in my mind only since Atlas did the B23-7... I remember seeing these odd ball units here in Union City all the time when I was a joungen... What are you going to use for windows? Flush mounted? David

I'm going to attempt to flush mount them, but they'll require cutting & filing of the clear sheet. I have not found a laser cut window kit for the BQ23-7, Bachmann units.
The rear door windows will be easy, as I'm cutting them from .010" sheet.
I can't wait for next year's WPM meet, so I can carry my two up there with me.

Just read that Train Buffs call these "Aegis Cruisers" for their resemblance to a Cruise Missle.

Hmm, You can have that cutting the windows deal, LOL! I'm not getting my hands sticky for that kind of work. That was the reason I asked due to the fact AMB doas not make any for it nor any one else. That I think is the only thing that has stopped me from building one of the BQs. More picture please!!!

How much would you charge to build one . I could supply the BQ23-7 shell and the Atlas B23-7. I gave up on mine . I had the same Idea of using the atlas b23 but I hate cuting up a 100.00 locomotive . Thanks Mike
